Šaljić asks the Prosecutor's Office: Will you again allow war crime indictees to flee Bosnia and Herzegovina?

(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has indicted four individuals charged with war crimes committed in Srebrenica in 1995.

The indictment was filed against: Milan Jevtić (1961) from Vlasenica; Rajko Čalmić (1952), born in Milići; Ostoja Perišić (1958) from Vlasenica; and Dejan Milanović (1946), born in Milići.

The indictees are charged that, in their capacity as battalion commanders and members of the Milići Light Infantry Brigade of the VRS, after the fall of the UN protected zone of Srebrenica in July 1995, they participated in the capture and execution of a group of 31 Bosniak men and boys, who were executed at the Jasikovača site.

Jasmin Šaljić, a representative of the Party for BiH in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, commented on this announcement on social networks.

"In this notification that the BiH Prosecutor's Office sent to the media, the names and surnames of the indicted individuals are visible, then from which brigade they were and the manner in which they killed captured innocent people.

The manner in which they carried out the executions is also visible, more precisely - some singled out and killed individuals, others killed those who showed signs of life after being shot.

What does filing an indictment mean?

The question arises, why were these four members of the Army of Republika Srpska not arrested immediately?

How, after these allegations from the indictment, were they not arrested at the same moment, searches of their properties carried out, and their legs and arms bound, regardless of the fact that they are individuals aged 70-80. No mercy!

An indictment could not have been filed without statements from relevant witnesses, an indictment could not have been filed without collected material, technical, and forensic evidence.

Every filed indictment must be confirmed, until then these criminals in their advanced years are free.

If we consider the experience from last year, when an indictment was also filed against eight VRS members for the same crime, most of them were unavailable to the Prosecutor's Office and courts of BiH the next day. They left Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Such serious indictments must be accompanied by spectacular arrests simultaneously," Šaljić stated.
