Salihagić: NES in Novo Sarajevo offers the youngest list, goal is to calm tensions and develop the municipality!

(Patria) - Whoever is elected municipal mayor and whoever makes up the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council (OV), I wish that after October 6 a healthy political climate is established that will bring forth all projects that are in the interest of the citizens of Novo Sarajevo.

This was stated in an interview for the Patria News Agency by the list holder of the People's European Alliance (NES) of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Novo Sarajevo OV, Nedim Salihagić.

Capital projects in focus

Salihagić, who also served as a councilor in the Novo Sarajevo OV for the past four years, says he managed to achieve his primary intentions, although there were also several other projects.

And if he is re-elected to the OV, he adds, his focus is on capital projects started by the previous administration: the Hum Forest Park, the construction of the "Vinko Šamarlić" recreational-sports zone, as well as the long-awaited construction of a monument to fallen soldiers and martyrs in the area of the Novo Sarajevo municipality.

He emphasizes that the NES list for the Novo Sarajevo OV differs from others primarily because it consists of a large number of people who are actively involved in politics for the first time.

- As for the representation of young people, I think our list is one of the youngest in this year's Local Elections - Salihagić pointed out.

And when it comes to the program, he explains that in NES they focused on security in the municipality, infrastructure development, social protection, care for veterans and their families...

Asked how he would assess the work of the current mayor and the OV, he says it is ungrateful to speak about the OV, given that he was a councilor. But speaking about the work of Mayor Hasan Tanović, he claims that he is much better than the image created in public opinion.

- Many projects and things that have been done were not properly presented to the public. A few days ago, data came out showing that Novo Sarajevo is the second municipality in terms of fulfilled promises - says Salihagić.

On the other hand, he adds, Tanović failed to reach a common agreement with the parties that brought him to the position of mayor on how everything should function.

- Everything culminated when the SDP participated in the removal of the chairperson from Our Party and the deputy chairperson from People and Justice, which is an indicator of the dysfunctionality of the Troika - states Salihagić.

He also commented on NES's support for the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina candidate Muamer Bandić in the race for mayor of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality.

Bandic most competent

- That support came naturally, and we tried to help bring the most competent person to the head of the Municipality at this moment. We believe that Muamer Bandić has all the predispositions to lead our municipality towards the progress that is necessary for all citizens - emphasizes Salihagić.

He adds that in NES they did not pay attention to which party Bandić comes from, given the fact that all four parties that supported him see him as their candidate.

He also commented on the move by NES and the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina to refuse participation in the imposed government of Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić.

- We decided to pursue a state-building policy and not accept some imposed things that were forced upon us. It is difficult to assess whether voters will appreciate that.

But I believe that when citizens go to the polls, they will subconsciously have all those events in mind and will still give support to the parties that decided to stand courageously and strongly in defense of this state - said Salihagić.

At this moment in the Novo Sarajevo Municipality, our interlocutor believes, the most needed is the stabilization of conditions, resolving the political crisis that has significantly burdened all its residents over the past three years.

- I think that with that political stability that would come, it is then necessary to move towards the capital infrastructure projects I listed.

And another thing we must also address is municipal hygiene and cleanliness. The plan is for the public company ONSA to start dealing more with this issue, as, for example, the public company LOKOM does in Novi Grad - says Salihagić.

Finally, we asked him what his expectations are from the Local Elections.

- After October 6, whoever is mayor and makes up the OV, I wish for a healthy political climate to be established that will bring forth all these projects that are in the interest of all of us - concluded Salihagić in an interview for NAP.
