Fair in Tokyo: Japanese 'go crazy' for honey from Bosnia and Herzegovina

Honey from beekeepers Midhat Hodžić from Sarajevo and Slobodan Ostojić from Banja Luka received the highest ratings at the beekeeping products fair in Tokyo, reports the Patria news agency.
This is the first time honey from Bosnia and Herzegovina has appeared at a fair in Japan, and it has already garnered the best ratings.

Beekeeper Midhat Hodžić told Patria that laboratory analysis established that the acacia honey from his apiary contains up to 90% pollen grains, which is far above the average of other honeys exhibited at the fair in Tokyo.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been assessed as a country with great potential for beekeeping and honey production, and the bee products themselves have been ranked among the highest quality in the world, due to still clean bee pastures. However, governments in BiH still do not utilise the country's beekeeping potential, which is why beekeeping in the country is at a very low level, and BiH annually imports nearly 300 tonnes of honey through legal channels, while tonnes of honey also enter through illegal channels, most often from Serbia, reports Patria.
