Safet Sušić remains BiH coach

Safet Sušić will remain at the helm of the BiH senior football team in the future, it was confirmed after an extraordinary session of the Executive Board of the Football Association of BiH, which discussed BiH's loss to Cyprus in Zenica in the opening qualifier for the European Championship in France in 2016, and considered the possible dismissal of Safet Sušić, writes Patria.

The meeting lasted four hours, but there were not enough votes for Pape's dismissal, although it was discussed that the atmosphere and the points tally must be improved.

Otherwise, Pape faced criticism at the meeting, but the coach did not get "nervous" and offer his resignation as some had hoped, because in that case the Association would not have to pay penalties.

It is necessary to take measures to change the situation in and around the senior team for the better, and to welcome the upcoming EURO 2016 qualifying matches in a more positive atmosphere, which started ingloriously with a 1:2 loss to Cyprus in Zenica, for which it was assessed that everyone was to blame - the players, as well as the coach and the professional staff.

After the meeting, Sušić said that nothing is lost yet when it comes to Euro 2016 and that they are capable of winning the desired number of points.

- Today's meeting was not aimed at changing anything, but at assessing the situation after a bad start to the EP qualifiers, i.e., after the loss to Cyprus. There are still 27 points to play for, and we probably need 17 or 18 to qualify for the EP - said Sušić.

He particularly emphasized that everyone must prepare well for the next two matches in October against Wales and Belgium, where the performance seen against Cyprus must not be repeated.

- There will be no major changes in the team because that would mean singling out culprits for the loss to Cyprus. No one played at the desired level, and I hope that will not happen again. The atmosphere in the team is good, and regarding the loss to Cyprus, we are all responsible, starting with me - emphasized Pape.
