Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina Assembly adopts resolution calling for peace in the country

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Assembly of the Islamic Community, at today's session, adopted a Resolution on the necessity of preserving peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and state sovereignty and integrity.

-The situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is truly complex, the assembly members are justifiably concerned, therefore the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by reisu-l-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović, proposed the text of the Resolution, which was subject to a fruitful discussion within the Assembly of the Islamic Community. In the end, we defined the text, which was unanimously adopted and which sends certain messages on behalf of the Assembly of the Islamic Community, but also the Islamic Community in general, regarding the state and times in which we live. It is an expression of concern for the state we are in and a call to all responsible parties who need to act at this time, in order to prevent the worst, and as the Resolution states: to endanger peace in the country, emphasized the President of the Assembly of the Islamic Community, Safet Softić.

 The bylaws on the election of the reisu-l-ulema, as well as the political situation in the country, were considered. At the session, the decision of the reisu-l-ulema to appoint the mufti of Tuzla, Vahid-ef. Fazlović, to a new five-year term was confirmed.

Continuing the session, the Assembly considered and adopted the work plan of the bodies of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the budget of the bodies of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2022, and a decision on the execution of the budget for 2022 was made.

Also, the Bylaws on amendments and additions to the Bylaws on the election of the reisu-l-ulema, as well as the Bylaws on amendments and additions to the Bylaws on the organization of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the diaspora, were considered.

-We had an extensive discussion on the amendments and additions to the Bylaws on the election of the reisu-l-ulema. The adopted changes, in a way, narrow down the number of possible candidates for reisu-l-ulema, tying each future candidate to active work within the Islamic Community. Namely, it is foreseen that whoever is a candidate for reisu-l-ulema must have 15 years of service as a prominent alim within the Islamic Community at the time of candidacy, stated the President of the Assembly, Safet Softić, after the session.
