Starting work in April: Less than 300 cases to be transferred to POSKOK from all ten cantonal prosecutor's offices

(Patria) - At the next session of the HJPC, a deadline will be set for the appointed prosecutors and judges of the Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption, Crime, and Inter-Cantonal Crime of the FBiH Prosecutor's Office and the Special Department of the Supreme Court of FBiH to assume their duties. The Special Department is expected to start operating as early as April.

The President of the HJPC, Sanin Bogunić, stated in the program "Istraga sedmice" that there are two lawsuits that do not jeopardize the formation of POSKOK.

"One relates to the appointment of one judge, and the other to one prosecutor. These lawsuits are related to specific positions of one candidate's name, and all others will assume their duties. Possibly, the assumption of duties for one judge and one prosecutor would be postponed depending on the decision of the Court of BiH, while the others should assume their duties very soon," said Bogunić.

He stated that POSKOK was supposed to receive equipment through USAID.

"We have some indications that this aid, which was supposed to be delivered as equipment, might be postponed, but we will involve the Government of the Federation of BiH. They are paying the rent, and we have already received urgencies from the Prime Minister twice to form the Department as soon as possible. There are no more excuses," said Bogunić.

He added that part of the equipment has already been delivered, and a meeting of the Working Group formed by the US Embassy regarding the establishment of POSKOK will be held at the US Embassy on February 19, when more information will be available.

Something less than 300 cases from all ten prosecutor's offices in FBiH are to be transferred to POSKOK, specifically those cases in which an indictment has not yet been filed.

We remind you that at its session on January 16, the HJPC appointed seven prosecutors, while the competition will be repeated for two positions. The appointed prosecutors are: Samir Selimović, Nina Šahinpašić, Medina Džerahović, Aida Bešlija, Amra Mehmedić, Jovo Karić, and Aid Hadžismailović.

The HJPC also appointed the head of the Special Department, i.e., the Deputy Chief Federal Prosecutor Hrvoje Čabrajić.

The appointed judges of the Special Department of the Supreme Court of FBiH are Ajla Papović-Mujan, Mersudin Pružan, Igor Todorović, Željko Rezo, Senad Osmić, Pavo Radoš, and Enisa Adrović. The competition will be repeated for three judge positions.

The next session of the HJPC will be held on February 26 and 27.
