With or without HDZ and SNSD, Sattler and Nelson become honorary citizens of Mostar today

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After scandalous exchanges between SDA, HDZ and SNSD, a ceremony will still be held in Mostar today where US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson and the Head of the EU Delegation in BiH Johann Sattler will receive the recognition of honorary citizens of the city.

This information was confirmed by the President of the Mostar City Council Salem Marić, who is also the leader of the Mostar SDA, stating that the high officials have confirmed their attendance at the ceremony scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the City Hall of Mostar.

"I am sorry that a ceremonial session and a decision we unanimously adopted at the City Council are turning into such a negative story that is not needed by Mostar, nor by any political party or the City of Mostar at a time when we were truly making positive progress. We had very good and dynamic work last year, both the City Council and the City Administration, and the results are already visible," says Marić.

He emphasizes that he regrets that everything has become complicated around this ceremony in Mostar, and responsibly claims that the Rules of Procedure invoked by HDZ and SNSD have been respected, and asserts that the mayor and the vice-presidents of the City Council were aware of the session.

"To be honest, at the session itself when we made the decision, nothing more needed to be said except to set the date for when it would be. The decision already existed and there is no adoption at this session, no quorum is needed for this session, it is simply a ceremonial act by which we award and grant the recognition of honorary citizens to Eric Nelson and Johann Sattler," explained the leader of the Mostar SDA, who was also the initiator of awarding these recognitions.

The ceremonial session, as he emphasized, will be held today at 10 a.m. in a ceremonial setting. He hopes that those who disputed the adherence to procedure regarding this ceremony will also join the event.

"Hindsight came after these sanctions, and then these stories started about how there was no agreement or accord. I am sorry that it came to that," Marić stated.

Let us recall that the HDZ mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, said that by scheduling the ceremonial session without the consent of the mayor and the deputy of the City Council from HDZ and SNSD, the Rules of Procedure were grossly violated, and that he will not attend the ceremony unless the procedure is respected.
