From KCUS for NAP: Competition for 50 specializations, we do not comment on the story about Gavrankapetanović's dismissal

A source of the Patria agency said that the management of KCUS will discuss the dismissal of the Head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology, Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović. He could not speak about the reasons for this dismissal, but added that it is being openly discussed.

When asked if such information is true and what the reasons for Dr. Gavrankapetanović's dismissal are, KCUS responded: "We are focused on the progress of KCUS. We are announcing a competition for 50 specializations. We do not comment on rumors.".

Dr. Gavrankapetanović also did not wish to comment on this information for the media. He briefly told the Patria agency that he is exclusively interested in surgery, but not in political decisions that could lead to his eventual dismissal from Orthopedics.

Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo in 1986. He defended his doctoral thesis in 1998. He is one of the leading European orthopedists. He is a member of numerous domestic and international medical associations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons from London, the British Orthopaedic Association, the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy, he is a member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society...

If Dr. Gavrankapetanović is dismissed from the position of Head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology, he will be one of the dozen professors who have left the Clinical Center in Sarajevo after Dr. Sebija Izetbegović took over as manager of the largest healthcare institution in BiH in January 2016.
