Ružnić: We've been fighting snow for four days, why are Ceste FBiH ignoring problems in Krajina?

(Patria) - For four days, the Una-Sana Canton has been facing a battle against snowdrifts, involving humanitarian organizations, mountain rescue services, and numerous volunteers.

Dozens of vehicles were stranded in the blizzard, and the first information about endangered passengers and cut-off families came thanks to news crews who reached the field with the services.

All endangered individuals have been accommodated, but questions remain: “Who is responsible for maintaining the main roads, and how did the December snow catch us unprepared?”

According to Mustafa Ružnić, former Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, such problems are not new in Krajina.

“JP Ceste Federacije (Public Enterprise Roads of Federation) is paid to maintain the roads. Are they responsible, or the companies hired for cleaning? Or perhaps such contracts were not realized at all?” Ružnić asks.

He reminds that there were children, women, the sick, and other citizens in the snow-covered vehicles, who waited for help for hours in low temperatures.

“Will we get used to being afraid of snow, or will we finally hold those responsible accountable?”

Ružnić warns that similar situations will not be resolved until all competent institutions take their share of responsibility.

“Should snow bury the Centar Municipality in Sarajevo for us to get answers? Krajina is Bosnia and Herzegovina, and such omissions must not be repeated,” he concludes.

Winter has just begun, and problems with road maintenance have already left citizens in uncertainty and danger.
