Rusmir Mesihović the new director of KCUS?

Today was the last day to apply for the competition announced for the appointment of the director of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, after Prof. Dr. Damir Aganović was dismissed from this position by the Management Board at the beginning of December last year, and Prof. Dr. Adnan Kapidžić was appointed acting director, writes the Patria News Agency. 

According to information from the Management Board, only one application was received by today, submitted by Rusmir Mesihović, the current Federal Minister of Health. 

However, as they told us, they will wait to see if any applications arrive by mail. Although there has been much speculation that Sebija Izetbegović wants the position of KCUS director for herself, her application has not reached the members of the Management Board. 

The Management Board is already discussing the new director among its members, and for most of them, Mesihović is the most acceptable option. 

Rusmir Mesihović was born in 1964 in Sarajevo, where he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, where he also completed his specialization and obtained his doctorate in 2002. At KCUS, from 2003 to 2011, he held the positions of head and deputy head at several clinics and departments. He interrupted his second parliamentary mandate in the Federal Parliament in 2011, when he was appointed Federal Minister of Health.

During his ministerial mandate, he introduced an electronic health system in all cantons, which reduced queues in health centers, simplified the procedure for obtaining prescriptions, and further facilitated the work of medical staff.
