Russian biathlete Alina Yakimkina (21) died as a result of a heart attack during the Russian Cup, it was announced on the official website of the Biathlon Union of Russia (RBU).
Yakimkina collapsed during the 15-kilometer race in Tyumen, Siberia, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
As stated in the RBU announcement, Yakimkina's heart stopped during the race, and doctors who immediately came to her aid could not save her life.
