Russians threatened to stop gas supplies

(Patria) - The G7 countries' refusal to buy gas in rubles is a path towards stopping gas supplies, said Ivan Abramov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Economic Policy of the Russian Federation.

"If these countries refuse to buy gas for rubles, it will definitely lead to the interruption of its supply. We have a clear stance," he said.

He emphasized that Russia cannot supply gas for free.

"If the condition is payment in rubles, then you have to pay in rubles. They had enough opportunities to buy rubles for this, they can do it right away," he said.

"We are not setting unrealistic demands," he added.

Dmitry Peskov previously said that Russia will definitely not send gas for free.

The German Minister of Energy said that all G7 ministers rejected Russia's demand to pay for Russian energy resources in rubles, AP writes.

Robert Habeck told reporters that all ministers fully agreed that this would be a unilateral and clear violation of existing contracts.
