Russians claim to have taken Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Russian forces have taken control of the area around Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, said the head of the UN nuclear watchdog, Rafael Grossi.

Grossi said in a statement that Russian diplomats in Vienna informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the staff continued to work and that radiation levels "remain normal".

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is the largest in Europe and has six of Ukraine's 15 nuclear power reactors, the statement said.

There are reports of Ukrainian citizens blocking roads leading to the plant, and a video has been posted on social media showing Ukrainians building improvised blockades near the city of Energodar, where the Zaporizhzhia plant is located.
