Miners freeze strike: Part of holiday pay to be paid by Friday

The miners' strike has been frozen and they will not gather in front of the Elektroprivreda building in Sarajevo tomorrow, reports a reporter from the Patria news agency.

This was decided after the second extraordinary meeting of RMU Zenica, following the proposed measures by the company's management to resolve the issues related to the submitted demands.

- We made a decision to freeze the strike decision. We received an offer that by Friday at the latest, 400 KM of holiday pay will be paid, that next week's salary will not be in question, and that loans will be paid by the end of the month - said Mehmed Oruč, president of the RMU Zenica union.

He noted that they will monitor the progress of demands related to investment in the mine, and called on miners who are scheduled to come for the first shift to report to work.

Esad Čivić, director of RMU Zenica, said that the demands will be met, that part of the holiday pay will be paid by the end of the week, and that salaries will be regular. They also presented the concept of investment in the mine.

By the end of the year, 5,400,000 KM is planned for investment, and a total of 34,000,000 KM in the coming period. It is difficult to make up for lost time, but tomorrow we will lower the miners into the pit and ensure basic working conditions - Čivić emphasized.
