(Patria) - Miners who gathered in front of the gate of JP Elektroprivreda BiH this morning have ended their protests.
Although the miners expected representatives of Elektroprivreda to address them in front of the building or invite them inside for talks, this did not happen, and the miners used the opportunity to present their demands in front of Elektroprivreda, which primarily relate to stabilizing the situation in RMU Zenica.
Sinan Husić, president of the Federation of BiH Miners' Union, said that approximately 500 miners from seven mines in the joint concern were planned to attend the protests. They are demanding their unpaid wages.
“No one knows how to guard and defend the country like a miner, no one knows how to value the country like a miner. Everything they have said about miners, they have seen so far, we know how to do it in a very dignified way, and on the other hand, anyone who tries to provoke or do something will get the appropriate response, because we are ready for anything. I am ready to give my life just to prove that it cannot go on like this anymore. A miner is not a nobody,” emphasized Zuhdija Tokić, president of the Trade Union Organization of the “Kreka” mine.
The miners are demanding to be paid their June wages and the May meal allowance, as well as to fulfill the conditions for the retirement of workers who have become eligible for retirement during 2023.
