Miners set off on foot to Sarajevo, demand urgent solution to their problem

This morning, more than 200 miners are still gathered in the yard of the Old Pit of RMU Zenica, and if their problem is not resolved today, the protests will continue until Monday, after which they will set off on foot to Sarajevo, reports the Patria news agency.

Although exhausted, they will try to persevere and remain in the yard of the old pit. This morning, they were joined by colleagues from the second shift of the Raspotočje pit. Director Esad Čivić came to work this morning as if nothing was happening and entered his office.

Mehmed Oruč, president of the union, said that the miners have requested an address from the director of Elektroprivreda or the prime minister, and if that does not happen today, they will set off on foot to Sarajevo.

Production in the city of steel and mines has been halted in all mines, with daily losses nearing 130,000 KM.

In his address to the miners, Čivić said that the mine has no money due to the difficult financial situation that befell them after the accident at the Raspotočje pit, and that the request for the payment of holiday allowance is unrealistic.
