RTCG under attack by nationalists due to decision to air 'Quo Vadis, Aida?'

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A protest by a group of citizens against the public broadcaster's decision to air the film "Quo Vadis, Aida?" was held tonight in front of the RTCG building, and participants stated that it does not contribute to clarifying the facts. A banner reading "Srebrenica is not genocide" was placed at the entrance to the RTCG building during the protest.

The protest was organized by NGOs "Zavjetnici Tvrdoš Nikšić" and NGO "Stupovi".

Protest participants said that the public broadcaster's decision to air "Quo Vadis, Aida?", by Bosnian-Herzegovinian director Jasmila Žbanić, is not good and that the film does not contribute to clarifying the facts.

Slavko Perošević, a Serbian epic poet and member of the Orthodox Brotherhood "Zavjetnici Tvrdoš Nikšić" and the Orthodox Brotherhood "Stupovi", said that they gathered in front of the RTCG building to express their dissatisfaction with the airing of the film about the genocide in Srebrenica.

"We believe that the crime that occurred in Srebrenica cannot in any way be treated as genocide. We, Serbs from Montenegro, advocate the thesis that we are a nation that has survived two genocides in the last two World Wars. About 3 million Serbs perished, and now genocide is being imposed on a nation that, along with the Jewish people, was the greatest victim of genocide in the 20th century," said Perošević.

Perošević emphasizes that Serbs from Montenegro will never accept these theses.

"It can be considered at some levels whether a certain crime occurred in Srebrenica. It certainly did. The execution of prisoners of war can be treated as a war crime, but not as genocide. We will not allow the thesis of genocide and this shameful stigma to be imposed on an entire nation, and as Serbs from Montenegro, we will always and to the end fight against it," concluded Perošević.
