RS objects to English translation of harmonized answers to EC Questionnaire

SARAJevo, (Patria) - All answers to the European Commission's Questionnaire have been harmonized and finalized and as such were submitted for translation long ago, confirmed Marina Kavaz Siručić from the Directorate for European Integration of BiH.

- The professional and linguistic review of the English translation is underway – said Kavaz-Siručić.

The questionnaire, which is expected to be submitted to the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker on February 28, is now facing an additional complication due to a reaction from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, which claims that "one of the unharmonized issues is the name of the language of the Bosniak people".

- One of the unharmonized issues is the name of the language of the Bosniak people, which in the English version of the answer was translated as: Bosnian language, instead of the language of the Bosniak people, which is translated as: the language of Bosniak people, and which is in accordance with Article 7 of the Constitution of Republika Srpska – writes Radmila Kocić-Ćućić, the chairperson of the Working Group.

Director of DEI Edin Dilberović confirmed earlier that all answers to the questions in Chapter 26 have been finalized and their content has been harmonized after all. The phrases Bosnian language, Serbian language, and Croatian language were used in the answers.

It should be reminded that the finalization of the disputed answers was carried out on January 16, 2018, by the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić and the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Željka Cvijanović. At that time, there was no mention of the names of the three languages.
