RS BiH to appeal EHF decision

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Handball Federation of BiH will appeal the EHF decision that BiH will not play in the World Championship playoffs following a complaint by the Swiss national team that player Tomislav Nuić, who was not on the list, played.

BiH national team player Tomislav Nuić was recorded on the scorers' list during the match against Switzerland in Tuzla in mid-January. It was later established that Nuić was not on the main player list. This oversight was made by the match delegate, Slovenian Darko Repenšek, who admitted the mistake.

National team director Gordan Muzurović said the Swiss offered arguments that Nuić influenced the result.

- He played excellent defense. And the man played for three and a half minutes. And that, gentlemen, passed - said the disappointed Muzurović, adding:

- In this morning's decision, the delegate was not mentioned. The man does not exist in the explanation of the EHF decision. As if he wasn't there. Not a single word is mentioned about his responsibility.

The last hope for those who truly deserve it, namely the players and the professional staff of the national team, is the appeal that RSBiH has the right to, which must be submitted by February 21 to the EHF headquarters in Vienna.

- We will appeal because we have no other choice. We will read everything carefully with our legal experts. We may be a small country in the eyes of some, but we have shown on the field how big we are - said Muzurović at the end, adding that RSBiH is ready to go even before the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which, by chance, is located precisely in Switzerland.
