Parents of destroyed kindergarten "Pčelica": Bring back smiles to our little ones!

Children were urgently evacuated from the unsuitable kindergarten "Pčelica" in the Old Town Municipality in Sarajevo on May 12th after floods and placed in the kindergarten "Biseri", but parents are concerned and asking for help to renovate the kindergarten. A Facebook page has also been created, where photos of the kindergarten, which looks like anything but an educational institution, have been posted, writes the BH news agency Patria (NAP).

According to the parents, the current situation is such that the kindergarten roof is completely devastated, the electrical installations were exposed to flooding in the last weather events (there was even water in the building's walls), and the ceilings and panels are in an alarming state and have started to fall off.

- For us as parents, relocating the children is not a solution to the current situation because our children are also in a substitute kindergarten, although nicely accepted by the staff and children of the mentioned kindergarten, they are placed in a cramped space that is completely unequipped for 55 little ones to stay in just a few square meters - state the parents.

The roof is leaking, dampness throughout the building

The "Pčelica" kindergarten building was built on two floors, which are now practically unsuitable for any activities for the 55 little ones who attend it.

- There are promises from the management of JU "Djeca Sarajeva" about the upcoming announcement of a tender for the adaptation of the roof structure, as well as that there are certain financial resources for the roof renovation, however, we as parents who have been waiting for almost two years for the promises to be fulfilled have many other problems with bringing the kindergarten to a suitable condition even after the roof structure is repaired. We can't wait any longer, our children must not be on the margins of society - added the parents.

Parents concerned about children's health

As they further state, help is needed to equip and adapt at least one floor of the kindergarten after the roof structure is renovated.

- Believe us, we parents are on the verge of despair. They say that pictures speak for themselves, more than 1000 words, and we hope that the media appeal will draw attention to the only unrenovated kindergarten in KS and that we will soon, together, bring back smiles to 55 faces - state the parents.
