Parents from Vrbanjci Plead for Help: Our Children Need Supplies, Books, Pencils, Backpacks...

Parents of Bosniak children from Vrbanjci near Kotor Varoš have sent a plea for help to everyone who can and wants to help their children attend classes under normal conditions, writes BH news agency Patria.

 

The parents' letter, which arrived at Patria's email, is published in full:

Dear Sir/Madam,

We, the parents of Bosniak children from Vrbanjci, have been fighting for the introduction of a national group of subjects at the “Sveti Sava” Elementary School in Vrbanjci, attended by 149 Bosniak children out of a total of 249 children, for the past three years.

Throughout the entire previous school year, our children did not attend classes and thus lost that year. We could not allow our children to lose another year, so we proceeded to organize supplementary instruction, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, the Federal Ministry for Refugees and Displaced Persons, and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the ZE-DO Canton, through the “Prvi Mart” Elementary School from Jelah, Tešanj municipality, which is the project implementer.

With the help of the Islamic Community in BiH and the ministries, we have adapted the premises, provided teaching staff and most of the school inventory. For the adequate implementation of the teaching process, we still lack certain items, so we ask you, if you are able, to help us.

1. Funding for a cleaner (half-time) 300 KM per month

2. Funding for a handyman (half-time) 300 KM per month

3. Pellets for central heating (one season ≈ 2 tons)

4. Computer, copier, scanner, printer, projector, etc.

5. School blackboards, 3 pieces

6. Markers for boards and erasers

7. Teacher chairs, 15 pieces

 8. Cabinets of various sizes, 6 pieces

 9. Table for the staff room 3m x 0.8m

10. Geographic maps (BiH, Europe, World)

11. Chalk

12. Hygiene products and cleaning supplies for the facility

13. School supplies for children (backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pencil cases, etc.)

The items are listed by priority. Monetary funds can be paid into the giro account of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Kotor Varoš, in whose facility the supplementary instruction is conducted.
