Rimac did not give consent to Gavrankapetanović: Konaković announced criminal charges against the minister and all actors

(Patria) - What could have been suspected days before, was confirmed today. Ismet Gavrankapetanović did not receive the consent of the FBiH Ministry of Health to be appointed as the general director of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo.

This ministry informed the KCUS Management Board that, after reviewing the complete documentation, they found irregularities on several grounds in the submitted documentation of prof.dr. Gavrankapetanović, and that according to the Law on Health Protection and regulations based on this law, the established conditions for the general director were not fully met, which is why consent for the requested appointment could not be given in accordance with the authorizations from Article 66 of the Law on Health Protection.

They state that Minister Nediljko Rimac exceptionally respects the credibility of prof.dr. Gavrankapetanović, which is why they emphasize that Minister Rimac's decision is exclusively of a legal nature, and in no way motivated by political or any other pressures and reasons.

„Furthermore, we note that no regulation defines the deadline for giving consent for the election of a general director, as speculated in the public. In this regard, it should also be taken into account that the documentation requested from the KCUS Management Board was only completed on 02/09/2024. We particularly emphasize that the work and functioning of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo are not threatened at any time, given that the mandate of the temporary Management Board and acting director is still ongoing. Further procedure, after not giving consent for the appointment of the general director, is within the competence of the KCUS Management Board, in accordance with the Law on Health Protection“, the statement reads.

After the statement of the Federal Ministry of Health, the president of NIP, Elmedin Konaković, who is on an official trip to India, made a statement. He announced that he will file criminal charges against the minister and other individuals.

„Minister Rimac denied the court rulings in our country in the same case that prof.dr. Gavrankapetanović went through at the General Hospital. He grossly, knowingly, disregarded the opinion of the cantonal ministry responsible, which sent an interpretation that a university diploma is more important than a certificate.

He favored interest groups that oppose Gavrankapetanović's arrival at KCUS. I remind you that he also fled during the dismissal of Sebija Izetbegović from the position of KCUS director, his job had to be completed by the prime minister in accordance with his competencies. It was clear then that Rimac did not come to establish order, and whether he had personal interests must be determined by the competent authorities.

Bodnaruk, Čerkez, and some other employees had their fingers in this, we can freely call it, affair.
They have been ruling the ministry for a long time, regardless of who is in power.

I will personally sign the criminal charges immediately upon my return to BiH against all actors, led by Minister Rimac“, Konaković stated.

It is no secret that there are also different factions within NIP who were not in favor of Gavrankapetanović. Since the dismissal of Sebija Izetbegović, KCUS has been led by acting director Alen Pilav from SDP.

Minister Rimac is from the HDZ 1990 quota, and this party has three representatives in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, who are key to the parliamentary majority. Whether Konaković will also initiate the minister's dismissal has not yet been announced.
