Rijaset rejected the appeal: Ef. Beganović stripped of imam title

The Rijaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected the appeal of Selvedin ef. Beganović, thereby officially excluding Beganović from the Islamic Community, the Rijaset announced, as reported by the Patria news agency.

The members of the Rijaset reviewed and rejected the appeal of Selvedin ef. Beganović against the first-instance disciplinary decision under which he was found guilty of a serious violation of work duties and work discipline. According to the Rijaset's decision, his decree will be revoked, meaning he will no longer be able to perform the duties of an imam.

Beganović is a former imam in the village of Trnovi near Velika Kladuša. He came to public attention several months ago when he reported an attack by unknown persons who inflicted serious bodily injuries on him on his way from the mosque to his home.

The Rijaset states that ef. Beganović was dismissed due to practicing medicine without a license, disrespecting other fellow imams, keeping dogs within the premises belonging to the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other inappropriate behaviors.
