Rijaset of IZ in BiH welcomes Pope Francis

On the occasion of the announced visit of Pope Francis to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Razim Čolić, Director of the Administration for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora and member of the Rijaset of the Islamic Community, gave a statement saying:

- The Rijaset of the Islamic Community welcomes the openness of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the arrival and hospitality of all people of good intentions, especially those who foster interreligious cooperation, understanding among people, and societal progress. In this context, we view the announced visit of Pope Francis to Sarajevo, we welcome him, and we hope that his visit will be beneficial for our country and all its citizens, especially for strengthening interreligious cooperation and understanding among believers of different religions.

With due respect, we remember the selfless efforts of Pope John Paul II to end the suffering and destruction of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the aggression from 1992 to 1995, and his efforts to build a multi-ethnic society on the principles of truth, justice, and equality.
