Rešo: Young people should learn to work, not chase diplomas

Director of the Federal Employment Bureau Kenan Rešo told the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) that young people in BiH should learn to do something, not just chase diplomas and certificates that mean nothing to them without practical knowledge. People who have knowledge in certain areas, he says, find jobs more easily.

- Our economy needs people who know how to do something, not those who only have diplomas – warns Rešo.

Rešo sees the cause of the high number of unemployed people in BiH precisely in the BiH education system, which does not follow market needs. By following the education system in our country, people cannot acquire knowledge that they will use in the labor market.

- It is not true that you must have a certificate for everything you learn. That is a wrong opinion. The goal of knowledge is employment, not getting a diploma. It is important to be good at what you want to do – Rešo tells NAP.

He points out that, above all, knowledge from the economy needs to be promoted.

In the Federation of BiH, only the Una-Sana Canton has the Law on Adult Education. However, Rešo believes that the adoption of this law in other cantons in the FBiH would open up the possibility for adults to retrain for professions that are in deficit on the BiH market.
