Republika Srpska publishes its own census results

The Institute of Statistics of Republika Srpska presented its results of the census of population, apartments and households conducted in 2013, Patria reports.

As announced by the Republic Institute of Statistics of RS, a total of 1,176,372 inhabitants live in this entity. Of these, 82.95 percent are Serbs, 12.69 percent are Bosniaks, and 1.25 percent are Croats in Republika Srpska.

Interestingly, according to the data of the Republic Institute, fewer inhabitants live in RS than determined by the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Namely, according to the state agency, 1,228,432 inhabitants live in RS.

The data of the state agency and the Republic Institute differ by 52,060 inhabitants in terms of the number of residents in RS.

Also, the data of the two agencies diverge when it comes to the percentage of ethnic groups in RS. According to the state results, 81.51 percent of the inhabitants in that entity are of Serbian nationality.

Let us recall that earlier, according to the adopted Law on the Processing and Publication of Census Results, it was determined in that BiH entity that the results are published by the local Republic Institute of Statistics for that territory, after Republika Srpska did not recognize the census results published by the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina in June.

Of the total number of inhabitants in RS, 598,530 are women and 571,812 are men, it was said today in Banja Luka at a press conference of representatives of this institute, who published the results of the census of population, households and apartments for Republika Srpska.

The director of the Republic Institute of Statistics, Radmila Čičković, reminded that the census in BiH was conducted in accordance with the Law on the Census of Population, Households and Apartments, and that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted the Law on the Publication of Census Results for RS.

The census of population, households and apartments in BiH was conducted from October 1 to 15, 2013, and RS rejected the census results published by the Agency for Statistics of BiH, as they are not credible, N1 reports.
