Reporters Without Borders demanded RTS stop ignoring citizen protests

BELGRADE, (Patria) - The international organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) assessed today that Radio Television of Serbia should stop ignoring the citizen protests that have been ongoing for three months.

"The public service is not a propaganda tool and should provide impartial reporting, regardless of whether the government likes it or not. RTS must stop ignoring those who have been demonstrating for three months and should give full coverage to this wave of protests," the organization stated on its Twitter account, as reported by the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS).

RSF representatives visited Belgrade on January 22 this year and spoke with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

The reporters announced at the time that they expect concrete measures and "positive changes" in order to achieve greater media freedom in Serbia.

RSF has condemned the lack of independence in "many Serbian media outlets," especially pro-government ones, NUNS reminded.
