Repeša: I didn't come to make revolutions, but I want to continue Vujošević's project

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina men's basketball team gathered today in Sarajevo and began preparations for the fourth cycle of qualifiers for the 2019 World Championship in China.

The best BH basketball players were supposed to start preparations on August 30, but the gathering was postponed due to recent turbulence in the association, i.e., the national team. Namely, selector Duško Vujošević earlier cancelled his arrival for preparations due to health problems and handed the helm to his first assistant Mensur Bajramović. However, Bajramović found an engagement in Hong Kong just before the preparations and left the national team, after which the Basketball Federation of BiH found itself in an almost hopeless situation.

Representatives of the Federation held a conversation with renowned expert Jasmin Repeša, who accepted the invitation and today conducted a roll call of players for the matches against Finland and the Czech Republic. So far, eight players have responded to the new selector of the Dragons: Nurkić, Kamenjaš, Talić, Vrabac, Gegić, Zahiragić, Hasandić, and Atić.

At the beginning of today's press conference at the Holiday Hotel in Sarajevo, journalists were first addressed by Dubravko Barbarić, acting general secretary of the KSBiH, who has resigned. He thanked the media for creating a positive atmosphere.

- I personally got involved in the talks, together with Dalibor Miloš, regarding the new selector. Vujošević had to step down due to health problems, we all wish him a speedy recovery. I think we will continue on his path, which is a positive attitude towards the BiH jersey. We agreed with Jasmin Repeša to volunteer for these two matches; we will talk later about his future engagement - said Barbarić.

Selector Repeša first touched upon the recent selector of BiH, Duško Vujošević.

- First of all, I want to wish my colleague Vujošević a full recovery. I want to continue his project, so that this development continues. I would also like to thank the players for their response, as well as their desire to achieve a result. Everything will depend on which team creates better chemistry in the two or three days of preparations - said Repeša.

As he says, his goal is to help the KSBiH.

- I also want to thank the Board of Directors for being persistent in bringing me in. This is, after all, the minimum I could do. I would like to hear only positive messages, to do this as well as possible... This is a short period, to dedicate ourselves to this project, which is extremely important for BH basketball. We are here to help everyone together. I didn't come to make revolutions. The coaching staff continues to work, with the addition of Emir Halimić, as well as Denis Bajramović - said Repeša.

The BiH selector also touched upon the upcoming opponents of the Dragons in the qualifiers.

- These are extremely unpleasant opponents. These are teams that can beat anyone. Finland is terribly aggressive, runs a lot... For the Czechs, Satoransky and Vesely will play, that is also a very tricky team. They have running potential, an exceptional approach... If you don't respond in the right way, then it's a problem - said Repeša.

He pointed out that after these matches are over, he will sit down and talk with the KS BiH about further engagement. He praised the players and said there are no problems for the future of BH basketball.

The team travels to Finland on September 11, and on September 16 they have a match against the Czech Republic.
