Reconstruction of the tram line from Nedžarići begins tomorrow

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta today inspected the works on the reconstruction of the tram line on the Ilidža-Nedžarići route. As previously announced, work on the second phase of this section, from Nedžarići to RTV Dom, begins tomorrow.

„A lot of work has been done so far, and it is time to expand the works on the renovation of the tram line. The first steps in this phase of reconstruction to RTV Dom are the dismantling of rails and geodetic works. The dynamics of work in both phases will be equal, and we expect to have the Ilidža-Remiza section completed by spring, as planned“, emphasized Minister Šteta.

To organize the works, tram traffic will run from Čengić Vila, which will also lead to a temporary change in the traffic regime in this part of the city.

„Vertical signaling will be installed tonight, and from the morning, one part of the road near the turnaround at Čengić Vila will be turned into a bus stop, while the other road will be two-way. This will increase the safety of passengers who will not have to cross the road when transferring from buses to trams and vice versa. Changes in traffic are inevitable if we want to build and improve this kind of public transport we currently have, so I hope citizens will have understanding and patience“, added Minister Šteta.

The number of tram vehicles from Čengić Vila, which will run every four minutes, will be increased, and the total number of buses on the Ilidža-Baščaršija route, including buses that will go to Čengić Vila, is 34. Coupons from both carriers will be valid in all vehicles, and a purchased ticket will be valid on both buses and trams.

The reconstruction of the tram line began on August 26 this year, and in its first phase on the Ilidža-Nedžarići route, tests, excavations, embankments, drainage works have been carried out so far, and documentation for materials has been collected. The planned completion of works for the Ilidža-Remiza section is May 2022.
