Reis-ul-ulema Kavazović: Insults, threats and blackmail must stop, that is not the path the people of this country wish to take

(Patria) - The Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein-ef. Kavazović, hosted a traditional Bayram reception for guests this evening in Sarajevo.

The reception, held at the Rijaset building of the Islamic Community on Kovači, was attended by representatives of other religious communities, various levels of government, the diplomatic corps, and the public and cultural life of our country.

In his address to the guests, the Grand Mufti reminded them of the significance of Eid al-Adha, explaining that the sacrifice is an offering intended to draw closer to God.

- The sacrifice teaches us that rebirth into a new life is possible, that the past can be overcome, and that suffering can be redeemed and forgiven. Suffering that has been experienced passes, it can even be overcome, but the memory of it never fades.

The Quranic story of Ibrahim and his son Ismail speaks precisely of this. They taught us that solving life's problems requires courage and sacrifice, which we must bear ourselves, and that there is no help from outside.

No foreigner, no matter how well-intentioned, can decisively help here unless there is readiness within ourselves - the Grand Mufti stated.



Therefore, as he said, today he appeals for prudence and readiness among local people to work for the benefit of all of us in this, our only homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Insults, threats and blackmail must stop, that is not the path the people of this country wish to take. All we want is peace, a peaceful and dignified life, without fear and suffering - Kavazović said.

He thanked the guests for responding to the invitation to share the joy of Bayram together.

- That means a lot to us. God loves when people gather for the sake of good. And gathering in joy and harmony is itself a good. It is our religious and neighbourly duty to respond to such an invitation.

Thank you to friends from the Jewish community, the Orthodox and Catholic Churches in Bosnia and Herzegovina for coming; I also thank the members of the Presidency of BiH, ministers, and all of you, dear friends, brothers and sisters - the Grand Mufti said.

He stated that such gatherings release the scent of Bosnia and Herzegovina and contribute to the atmosphere of life in it.

- That is essentially the nature of our country; it carries its scent in its bosom. I hope it will smell here, but also everywhere where there are Bosnians and Herzegovinians who love their country.

I wish you a pleasant and enjoyable stay among us. May Bayram be happy and joyful, as well as the holidays of our neighbours, who together with us make the most beautiful ornament of our lovely homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
