Reisu-l-ulema Kavazović: Let's build friendships wherever we can

Reisu–l-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein ef. Kavazović today sent an Eid message to all believers in the country and diaspora, in which he called on Bosniaks to build friendships wherever they can, to stand up for the truth, to avoid quarrels and arguments about things that are of no benefit and where the damage is obvious, and to forgive each other, because this strengthens the bonds between people and nations.

The Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) conveys the Eid message of Reisu–l-ulema Kavazović in its entirety:

On Sunday, with the evening prayer, we will bid farewell to the month of Ramadan. In thirty days of fasting, we have strived through our worship: prayer, fasting, zakat, and sadaqah al-fitr, to achieve God's mercy and forgiveness.

In faith, the most important measure is a sincere relationship with oneself, with others, and with God. God perfectly knows all our actions; all that we hide and all that we show. Through fasting, the Almighty God teaches us: sincerity, patience, decency, moderation, and, above all, humility.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, often emphasized the importance of performing prayers, giving zakat, bodily cleanliness, good relations between spouses and neighbors, and care for people in general.

These enumerated obligations seem even more relevant to us today. We live in conditions of a serious social crisis. A large number of our people have been left without any material means of livelihood, and many without their own homes. They are now a test of our conscience.

A community cannot be secure if human dignity is trampled upon, and people's lives and property are endangered.

Brothers and sisters,

Let's build friendships wherever we can.

Let's stand up for the truth whenever we see it being replaced by lies.

Let's avoid quarrels and arguments about things that are of no benefit and where the damage is obvious.

Let's forgive each other, because this strengthens the bonds between people and nations.

To all Muslims, men and women, in the homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandžak, in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and the diaspora, I wish happy and blessed Eid days. Let's spend them as is our tradition: with family, relatives, and friends.
