(Patria) - Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein ef. Kavazović today at the Ferhat Pasha Mosque, Ferhadija, in Banja Luka, presented the deed of appointment to the new Banja Luka mufti Ismail ef. Smajlović.
Thus, the Grand Mufti transferred part of his authority to Mufti Ismail ef. Smajlović.
- I thank the Grand Mufti for the trust shown in me to serve as the Banja Luka mufti. I promise all citizens in the Banja Luka area that we will strive, with the support of all structures of the Islamic Community, to contribute to a better quality of life here - stated Mufti Smajlović after this religious ceremony.
As he said, certain powers were transferred from the Grand Mufti to him today so that they could more strongly care for the religious rights of Muslims in this area and support them in a more dignified religious life.
- Also, I thank the media who have followed my work, from several months ago until today, when from Banja Luka we tried to send good signals, positive news, cheerfulness and light that shines here today - said Mufti Smajlović.
He concluded that Banja Luka has a tradition of ulema and muftis, and that it has quality infrastructure as a city.
- We will try to use that in a quality way - stated the Banja Luka mufti.
As the Grand Mufti previously said, the role of the mufti is to give guidance to believers, to point out in freedom what is good and what is not, and to be clear and vocal.
- The role of the Islamic Community is to call towards good and at the same time prevent evil. Today we once again confirm this basic function in the community - concluded the Grand Mufti.
