Reis Kavazović: Evil still lives, and will be destroyed when the rose of repentance blossoms

Husein Kavazović, the Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led the Friday prayer and funeral for 175 victims who found peace after 19 years. In Potočari, Kavazović, delivering the sermon, said that in these days he asks God that grief be hope, revenge be justice, a mother's tear be a prayer, and that Srebrenica never happen again to anyone, reports the Patria news agency.

- Brothers and sisters, 19 years ago, the darkest evil of this world began its bloody march. That evil, embodied by the genocide in Srebrenica and other parts of this beautiful land, has not yet been overcome. It still has a dwelling place in many souls and desires of many. Because it cannot be removed without repentance and a clean and open encounter with it. Great spiritual strength is needed, capable of such a magnificent victory - said Reis Kavazović.

He further noted that evil will be defeated when the rose of repentance blossoms.

- Then, I am convinced, Srebrenica will come to life, innocent and pure as before. Until then, we must speak of evil and point a finger at its protagonists. I call on people in BiH to reject the glorification of criminals and the denial of crimes. No good or happiness will come from that. Instead of such deeds that defy all human dignity and demonstrate civilizational shame, let us help achieve justice and allow the victims to live a dignified life - Kavazović emphasized.

The Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community of BiH asked Allah Almighty for strength of faith in justice and His mercy.

- Life without faith in God's judgment gives birth to despair and opens an abyss in our soul. We have gathered in Potočari for the same reason as so many times before. We are here to fulfill our obligation to perform the funeral prayer and lay the bones in the earth. Today we return the bones of our loved ones to the earth from which they were created. Today we also remember the horrors they went through - added Kavazović, praying to God to free us from tyranny and bring peace and blessing to our lands.
