Reis Kavazović: I am concerned about the situation in our communities in RS

Today, the Sabor of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held under the chairmanship of President Hasan Čengić, writes Patria.

The introductory words to the present members of the Sabor were addressed by the Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović, who briefly recalled the activities of the Rijaset and its administrations and bodies.

- The Islamic Community is fulfilling its mission, by teaching and promoting Islamic values in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the countries where it operates, without major difficulties. The Islamic Community is following the events in the Middle East with concern. The tragedy of the Syrian people is leading to their complete exodus.

We have organized the collection and sending of humanitarian aid to the people of Syria several times. The aid we have sent has exceeded half a million marks, and we have launched another campaign that is currently underway. Through the Office for Social Welfare, we will monitor the situation, get involved, and send aid.

What particularly concerns me is the situation in our communities and congregations in RS. Our people were politically placed in a subordinate position in the past elections. This is not a momentary display of weakness, but a long-term neglect of serious discussion in our policies regarding that part of our country and our people. A comprehensive solution, plan, and program of action on the economic, social, and cultural level has never been offered, said Reis Kavazović, among other things.

Today, the budget and work plan of the Sabor for 2017 were also discussed and adopted. The Sabor also adopted the Rulebook on the organization and work of the Gazi Husrev-beg Waqf and the Rulebook on the use of the flag of the Islamic Community.
