Reis Kavazović: Let us perfect our faith by helping the disenfranchised members of our community

Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović sent a congratulatory message to Muslims on the occasion of the New Hijri year 1436.

The message from the Reisu-l-ulema states:

- Dear brothers and sisters, Muslims,

Tonight marks the beginning of the 1436 Hijri year, which reminds us of the significant event of the Hijra, the migration of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the first Muslim community from Mecca to Medina.

At the same time, the event of the Hijra carries a universal message to people that their success lies in the constant effort to migrate from sin and evil towards good and righteousness in their lives, to abandon what is harmful to human life and morality in favor of what is good, to be better and more fruitful in the year they are entering than the year they are leaving behind. The Hijra today warns Muslim communities and institutions that they can survive and develop exclusively on the principles of justice, morality, and the well-being of people, while oppression and violence lead to ruin and betrayal of God's trust.   

Therefore, I call upon Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandžak, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and the Bosniak diaspora to carefully read and apply the messages of the Hijra, which require us to be dedicated and obedient to Allah's guidance and to perfect our faith by working towards God's pleasure through providing assistance to the displaced, disenfranchised, flood-affected, and marginalized members of our community.

Reminding that Saturday, October 25, 2014, is the first day of the month of Muharram, one of the "holy months," which celebrates the inviolability and sanctity of human life, honor, and dignity, I once again point out to Muslims, in places where human blood is shed, that this is a sin and unacceptable, and I appeal for misunderstandings and conflicts to be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means.

To all Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandžak, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and the Bosniak diaspora, imams and employees of the Islamic Community, I congratulate the New 1436 Hijri year, wishing it to be happy and blessed for everyone, praying to Allah (SWT) to grant Muslims unity, unite their hearts in goodness, strengthen our Community in progress, preserve our homeland in prosperity, and show all people the paths to happiness and success, states the congratulatory message from Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef.
