Reis Kavazović appeals for the release of humanitarian Haines

Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović has appealed for the release of British humanitarian worker David Haines, captured in Syria, reports the Patria News Agency. The Reisu-l-ulema's appeal states:

- Having been informed that the captured humanitarian worker David Haines, a citizen of Great Britain, is under serious threat of death, and bearing in mind the sanctity of human life that Islam teaches Muslims, I appeal to those holding David Haines captive to abandon their threats and unconditionally allow him to return to his family. David Haines is a man who has spent most of his life helping unfortunate people around the world, including Bosniak returnees in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosniaks are grateful to everyone who helped them during the war and post-war period, including David Haines. 

The release of the captured humanitarian worker is the only reasonable, moral, and religious act, because his life and current position will not resolve the misunderstandings of those holding him captive with the parties with whom they are in conflict, but by releasing him, they will show their human face and virtue.

Given that Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina were subjected to unjust killings, they have a moral and religious obligation to show particular sensitivity to the killing and abuse of innocent people. Therefore, I ask for the expression of Islamic solidarity and the release of the captured British humanitarian worker, because the murder of one innocent person is like the murder of all humanity - states the appeal of Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef.
