Reis Kavazović: The core of the problem in BiH are aspirations towards its territory

(Patria) - I believe that people who threaten peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be brought to justice. Because there is nothing we can sacrifice when it comes to peace. We must preserve peace and save it for us and our children, our grandchildren, and the generations to come, says the head of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, in an interview with "Jedan".

Ef. Kavazović says that the current crisis in the country is significant, and the rhetoric we hear is worrying. All of this, according to reisu-l-ulema Kavazović, can threaten peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After participating in talks with representatives of the international community about possibilities for resolving problems in BiH, Kavazović emphasizes that during these meetings he stated that religious communities are not involved in these tensions and do not bear responsibility for the political environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina. But he clearly stated what he considers the main problem in BiH.

"The core of the problem in BiH are aspirations towards its territory. Secession and likely joining another country. I said that this must stop. Any other conversation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is leading in the wrong direction. Secession must stop. Peace must be preserved in Bosnia and Herzegovina," states reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović resolutely.

Return to the philosophy of neighborliness

Kavazović reminds that Bosnia and Herzegovina has survived for centuries on the philosophy of neighborliness and believes that this philosophy should be returned to. He warns against slipping into fascist ideology, which was once preferred in some societies around us, and here as well, namely the philosophy of persecuting converts.

"Neighborliness is what we should focus on, we should be oriented towards each other, help each other, understand each other. We are all Slavic people here. Our traditions are very close, our languages are the same. There is no reason why we should turn this blessing of peace into the hell of war," says reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, in the interview "Jedan".

Muslims are where they are, and it's their fault, because they don't understand the context....

However, as reis Kavazović says, Muslims also bear some fault for the situation in BiH. The apathy that has taken hold among them and the thinking that they have some credit from past times has prevented them from being more present in decision-making centers where everyone else is vying to have their voice heard.

"Bosniaks believe that they still have some credit from some time ago and believe that it is quite enough to recognize the problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosniaks must therefore be more agile, they must talk about the real problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they must talk with people who are their partners, they must seek solutions for Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is no country in the world that is God-given forever, without conversations from time to time to renew the social contract. It needs to be constantly renewed. That is why in Bosnia and Herzegovina it is necessary for us to reach this renewed social contract from decade to decade. We must see our interests, but also listen to the interests of others in order to strengthen the common interest when it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina," says reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH, Husein ef. Kavazović.

Vaccination should protect one's own life and the lives of those around us

Kavazović says he is disappointed with how citizens are behaving during the coronavirus pandemic and the low vaccination rate. He believes that scientific achievements should be followed and applied, and considers those who do not do so irresponsible.

"I think they are very irresponsible people. Science tells us, and it is our duty to listen to it. Why would we have science at all, what use is it to us, if we are not going to listen to it. Yes, we should use vaccines, get vaccinated and protect our own lives and the lives of those around us. I can say that I am somewhat disappointed in ourselves for how we behave in both instances," says Husein ef. Kavazović.
