Reis Kavazović: I am following the latest developments in Novi Pazar with concern

(Patria) - The Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, responded to a letter sent to him by Ramiz Dugopoljac from Novi Pazar, in which he asked for help after the demolition of his barbershop business premises located on a waqf plot.

The letter states:

Dear Mr. Dugopoljac,

Esselamu alejkum,

I received your letter in which you informed me of the unfortunate event, the demolition of your business premises in Novi Pazar, and in which you ask me to help you rectify the injustice done to you.

First of all, I must tell you that I have been following the latest developments in Novi Pazar with concern. As the Grand Mufti, I appeal to you, as well as to the representatives of our meshihate and local authorities, and especially to Mufti Mevlud ef. Dudić and the Mayor of Novi Pazar, Mr. Nihat Biševac, that in resolving all open issues, you first and foremost preserve the peace and dignity of our people.

I am sure that you, esteemed Mr. Dugopoljac, are well aware of the sanctity and importance of the waqf for our people and our community. But I also want to remind us all that the Sharia rule is that one injustice cannot be removed by another injustice. It is the obligation of all of us to protect the right of every person, and especially the right of the waqf, the orphan, and the oppressed. The solution should be sought in the protection of all these rights, and I am sure that you will all succeed together in the spirit of Islamic brotherhood.

On the other hand, we will seek information from our authorities in Sandžak in order to gain insight into the entire case of the demolition of this building and to determine possible responsibility.

In the hope that all problems arising from this unfortunate situation will be resolved as soon as possible, I sincerely greet you, your family, and all members of the Islamic Community in Sandžak, concludes the letter from the Grand Mufti.
