Reis Kavazović: Showed the true strength of a religious leader

Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović, with a few moves and very strong and significant statements he made, definitely deserved to be among the personalities who marked 2015, writes the Patria news agency.

In just a few moments, and with a few historical sentences spoken, Reis Kavazović calmed a crowd of 50,000 people in Potočari on July 11, when the incident with the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić occurred.

- Dear brothers and sisters. Let us remain dignified in our pain. Let us remain dignified as Muslims, that is our obligation to our martyrs and our faith. You who have come here to pray for your family members, turn towards the coffins, not towards those who have come here today for various reasons, these were the words of Reis Kavazović who calmed the atmosphere and heated passions.

Reis Kavazović, which has not been the case with the ulema so far, openly supported the idea that persons fighting in foreign battlefields, such as Syria and Iraq, should be stripped of their Bosnian-Herzegovinian citizenship.

- I believe that the state should revoke citizenship from those who have gone to foreign battlefields to wage wars in the name of other countries - said Reis Kavazović, adding that those who do not respect the laws of this country should face sanctions and consequences for that disrespect.

Reis Kavazović was also the initiator of the signing of the Joint Statement on the Condemnation of All Forms of Radicalization and Terrorism.

The joint statement stated that the tradition and fundamental values of Bosniaks, Muslims in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian territories, do not recognize and accept any form of violence and that it is the duty of every human being to fight against it.
