Reis Kavazović: No one will live our hardship and solve our problems if we do not do it ourselves

Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović sent today a Bayram greeting on the occasion of the start of Kurban Bayram tomorrow. The Patria News Agency publishes the full text of the reisu-l-ulema's Bayram greeting:

Brothers and sisters,

Today is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the Day of Arafat, when pilgrims from all parts of the world are concluding the rites of Hajj. They have arrived there in the valley of Mecca to renew their covenant of obedience to Allah, glory be to Him, placing their hand on the Black Stone of the Kaaba.

Tomorrow is Kurban Bayram. We will mark it with prayer and the offering of the sacrifice of the kurban, which is our renewal of the covenant with God. During the days of Kurban Bayram, we remember the sacrifice of all God's prophets (peace and blessings be upon them) and righteous people (awliya), our ancestors from the past.

It is an opportunity to realize that our own life path also requires renunciation and sacrifice in the same way as Hagar, the mother of Ishmael, peace be upon him, did in her search for the water of life.

No achievement will come by itself. Effort and sacrifice are at the foundation of every free individual and nation. Each of us must show responsibility for the trust that has been entrusted to us. Man is first and foremost a being of responsibility.

I call upon you to fulfill your obligations and to show mutual solidarity.

Let our concern also be for our neighbors with whom we live. Let their joy be ours, and their pain and sorrow be a call for us to come to their aid.

Bosnia is our homeland, and let us protect it. No one will live our hardship and solve our problems if we do not do it ourselves. We have seen that many times.

Therefore, I call upon Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Catholics and Jews to work together in raising our families, educating our children and preserving our togetherness.

Brothers and sisters,

To all of you in our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandžak, in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and the diaspora, I wish happy and blessed Bayram days. Let us spend them with family, relatives, friends and neighbors. May the joy of Bayram fill our hearts and enter our families and homes.
