Reis Kavazović: Friday prayer is not postponed due to coronavirus

(Patria) - Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović stated that Friday prayer is not to be postponed due to coronavirus. Namely, the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina appeals to all its members and adherents not to succumb to the panic spreading due to the appearance of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our country, but to take all measures to protect themselves from this disease. 

"We appeal to all members to adhere to the principles of personal and respiratory hygiene, which are deeply rooted in Muslim tradition and Islamic teachings through ablution, ritual bathing, and regular hand washing, etc., but also to follow the instructions and recommendations of the competent ministries. The Islamic Community will follow all instructions from the competent state bodies and organize its activities and public gatherings accordingly, and inform the public about it. According to all relevant information, there is no need for any extraordinary measures yet, and today's Friday prayer will be organized without any special restrictions," they wrote in a statement.

Reis-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović reminds all elderly persons and persons with weakened immunity from risk groups that, according to Islamic regulations, it is permissible for them, for preventive and health reasons, to perform the noon prayer at home instead of Friday prayer in the mosque.
