Reis Kavazović expresses concern over threats to media freedoms

Following the entry of police investigators into the newsroom of the Klix.ba portal and a multi-hour search, the office of reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović issued a press release stating:

Kavazović shares the concern of many citizens, the media and academic community that yesterday's police action involving a multi-hour search of the Klix.ba portal newsroom may contain elements of unacceptable threats to media freedoms and a narrowing of democratic standards. A joint effort by the entire society is needed to ensure that media work is conducted in accordance with professional media standards, with adherence to ethical norms, loyalty to the truth, the public interest, and the well-being of all people – states the press release from the office of reisu-l-ulema Kavazović, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Without entering into the merits of the decision by the prosecutor's office and police authorities regarding the said search, the office of reisu-l-ulema firmly supports the media and journalists in doing their work professionally and in accordance with the highest democratic standards.
