Reis Kavazović: IZ should condemn, and the state should prevent our citizens from going to foreign battlefields

We must separate crime from faith. We must separate because crime negates faith – said the head of the Islamic Community in BiH, reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović, in today's interview for Oslobođenje, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Kavazović condemned the crimes that are happening in the world today. He also condemned the crimes that occurred in Paris a few weeks ago. He said that, if we want, we can compare these crimes with those committed against Bosnian Muslims – the killing of children by the Scorpions. Crimes should be condemned, he said, without any "but".

In the interview, the reisu-l-ulema specifically drew attention to the teachings of Islam, to Islam's view of life, which in the Qur'anic verses states that 'whoever kills an innocent person, it is as if he has killed all of humanity'! That maxim, he said, is well-known within the world of Islam.

The reisu-l-ulema also clearly criticized the departure of Bosnian citizens to foreign battlefields.

- We have a state. The state must prevent this. The Islamic Community should condemn, and the state should prevent. We must clearly state what is wrong. The Islamic Community should speak, and the state must do its job – said ef. Kavazović. How successful the state will be in this, he says, is a question, but the state must be very decisive, reports Patria.
