Reis Kavazović: Mocking Muhammad PBUH is not an acceptable form of freedom of speech

Regarding the re-publication of caricatures that offensively and falsely depict the honorable face of God's messenger Muhammad PBUH, the office of Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović issued a press release, which the Patria News Agency transmits in its entirety. 

- We most strongly condemn the abuse of freedom of speech and artistic expression by using it to deliberately humiliate other people and their sacred values. Instead of developing a culture of understanding, sensitivity, and respect for the spiritual foundations of other people, the path of crude provocation, incitement of hatred, and prejudice will certainly not bring prosperity to human society, nor will it give meaning to freedom.

What arguments can explain that mocking Muhammad PBUH is a fight against terrorists, or that causing spiritual pain to all Muslims in the world is a demonstration of freedom of expression?

We reject the aggressive imposition of the view that, in any form, publishing and supporting the mockery of Muhammad PBUH, and the inconsiderate attack on the most intimate spiritual feelings of all Muslims, is an acceptable way of expressing freedom.

Someone must take responsibility for the increasingly evident consequences of the hatred spreading towards Muslims in Europe, day by day. We call on the media community to resist malicious tendencies of exploiting the media as a tool for spreading Islamophobia. We particularly point out and express great sorrow that some media outlets in our homeland and region irresponsibly succumb to destructive media tendencies and the very dangerous euphoria of Islamophobia, the statement from the office of Reis Kavazović reads.
