Reis Kavazović and Miro Kovač Discussed Relaxation of Relations Between Bosniaks and Croats

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, received a delegation from the Foreign Policy Committee of the Croatian Parliament.

The head of the parliamentary delegation was Miro Kovač, President of the Foreign Policy Committee, and also present at the meeting were Arsen Bauk, President of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia Caucus and member of the Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, Davor Ivo Stier, member of the Foreign Policy Committee, and Martina Kušnjačič, Secretary of the Foreign Policy Committee.

The meeting was also attended by accompanying members of the delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Ivan Del Vechio, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and his associates.

The meeting discussed the relaxation of relations between the Bosniak and Croat peoples, and the role of religious communities in BiH society. The Reis-ul-ulema emphasized that the peoples in BiH live together as they have for centuries and cooperate well in their daily lives, but that the problem lies in policies that do not address people's life issues but rather raise tensions.

Highlighting the good cooperation of the Islamic Community in BiH with the Catholic Church, Napredak, and numerous organizations and individuals from the Croat people, the Reis-ul-ulema stated that "we link the survival of Catholics and Croats in BiH to our own survival," expressing the readiness of the Islamic Community, within its capacity, to do everything to prevent political turmoil from spilling over into relations between the peoples.
