Reis Kavazović congratulates New Hijri Year: Let us seriously grasp the weight of the imperative for reconciliation

According to the Takvim of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, tomorrow, Wednesday, 14 October 2015, is the 1st of Muharram 1437 AH, reports the Patria news agency.

On the occasion of the New Hijri year, Reis-ul-Ulema Husein ef. Kavazović sent the following congratulatory message.

- Every new Hijri year brings us back to the memory of the Hijra – the migration of Muslims from Mecca to Medina in 662 AD.

After 13 years of his prophetic mission in Mecca, Allah's Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) received a command from Allah (swt) to spread his mission of Islam – peace and reconciliation among people – further in Medina. That act of travel from Mecca to Medina, that spiritual transition from the truth of Mecca to the justice of Medina, is called the Hijra, which is one of the most significant moments in the life of God's Messenger and the history of Muslims.

This message holds special importance and significance in today's Muslim world, where Muslim blood is being shed, wars are being waged, and terrorism is being committed.

I call upon Bosniak Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and the diaspora, and all Muslims in the world to seriously grasp the weight of the Hijri imperative of brotherly reconciliation and brotherly solidarity, to harness the spirit of the Hijra and continue building trust, solidarity, and coexistence.

In that spirit, I congratulate all Muslim men and women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sandžak, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and the Bosniak diaspora, imams and employees of the Islamic Community on the New 1437 Hijri year, with the wish that it be happy and blessed for all, the congratulatory message states.
