Reis Kavazović: Bosniaks, victims of a terrible genocide, do not accept false political reconciliation

The collective funeral prayer in Prijedor was led today by reisu-l-ulema Husein efendija Kavazović, reports the Patria news agency.

In his address before the funeral prayer, the reisu-l-ulema, among other things, said that Bosniaks will not accept lies and false political reconciliation, and that the political and intellectual elites in whose name the genocide was committed will continue to deny the genocide, but will not be able to conceal it.

-At this honorable place, we declare that we will not accept lies or false repentance. Let them not underestimate our ability to distinguish truth from lies. Let them not be angry because we recognize their insincerity. Let no one in the world think that we, the victims of a terrible genocide, will agree to political reconciliation. That can be a path to genuine reconciliation, but not our goal. We need genuine repentance and spiritual reconciliation as permanent categories, not as fleeting political acrobatics. If we cannot get that, then we have yet another confirmation of the world we live in.

The reisu-l-ulema emphasized that the genocide in Prijedor is a true picture of the world we live in:

-It is a world without false masks, without shame, disgrace, or repentance. Tomašica today is a witness to that ugly face, the treacherous and cowardly spirit of international courts and the UN Security Council, whose actors are afraid to deliver a clear and unambiguous verdict on genocide.

From this place, we will say that, due to their number, we may not remember the faces of all the criminals who committed genocide against our people, but we will remember the faces of those who did not condemn them and who, through their inaction, were their great allies, he added among other things.

The reisu-l-ulema directly addressed the families of the murdered Bosniaks:

-Your wounds are also the wounds of all of us. We will heal them in silence and with dignity. Let us not allow our enemies to defeat us in pain. We cannot bring our loved ones back, but we can make a vow before God that we will not forget them. May the debt of remembrance for the victims of Prijedor be our permanent vow, concluded Kavazović.
