Regional water supply Plava voda receives consent from the House of Peoples, project value 22 million KM

The House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina gave consent for the ratification of the Loan Agreement (Project „Regional water supply Plava voda“) between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which should start in the spring, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The project will ensure long-term, continuous and high-quality water supply for five municipalities, namely Travnik, Zenica, Novi Travnik, Vitez and Busovača, benefiting around 250,000 residents of these municipalities and businesses in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Federal Government established the public interest of this project in January 2013, after which the public company Regional water supply “Plava voda” d.o.o. Travnik on 30 December 2014 addressed the Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a request for the Fund to participate in repaying part of the loan taken from the EBRD.

The total loan value is 22 million KM, and the Fund was asked to participate in repayment with 25 percent of the total debt, i.e. 6,129,345 KM over a period of 15 years (2016-2030).

In October 2015, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina made a decision to accept the Loan Agreement (Project Regional water supply Plava voda) between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and authorized the Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina to sign it.
