(Patria) - After massive attacks on me that occurred both before and during the days of Bajram, from members of Our Party, even though I asked for the discussion to stop out of respect for the religious holiday, they did not cease, all because of my freedom of speech, i.e., my support for the Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, wrote cantonal representative Redžo Lemezan, along with the message that he is leaving Our Party.
"By remaining silent on such matters, the party leadership clearly sent me a message that freedom of speech and opinion, as fundamental human rights, are not welcome in Our Party. Yes, democracy in Our Party exists only on paper. The best indicator of this is that there was only one candidate for president at the recently held congress and only one discussant. Our Party was my choice for 9 years. I remained true to the foundations of that party. Our Party did not!" Lemezan stated.
As he says, for a piece of power, principles have been betrayed, 'frogs' are constantly being swallowed, votes are cast for individuals on the American blacklist, and the red line has long since disappeared.
"In Our Party, there are still excellent people with whom I will always gladly cooperate and whom I thank for their enormous support over all these years.
But, I do not want to be in a party where someone, without argument, tells me how I should vote before a vote! I do not want to be in a party where I cannot have my own opinion and express it! I cannot and do not want to be in a party where there are five professional representatives in the Sarajevo Canton with very high salaries, who have voluntarily given up their offices in the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton (the only ones among all parliamentary parties) where they should be spending their working hours, receiving citizens, coordinating activities, and earning their salary. That decision was made before I joined the Sarajevo Canton Assembly. I do not accept being a 'voting machine,' a hand that moves 'by remote control.' Citizens did not elect me so that someone else makes decisions while I just vote," Lemezan stated.
And he added: "My greatest sin in Our Party is the same as the sin of Albin Zuhrić, Denis Gratz, Damir Marjanović, Neira Dizdarević, Damir Arnaut, Elvis Vreta, and many other honorable members who have left Our Party recently. Our common sin is disobedience and lack of admiration for one person in Our Party, the shadow ruler, but whenever there is a major political problem in public, that person is absent and never takes responsibility, yet decides everything.
The HDZ is today for Our Party the 'bearer of European values,' just as for their federal representatives, Zagreb is 'the only progressive city in the region.' That presumably explains taking the side of the HDZ in Mostar. With the closure of organizations in Mostar as well as in several other cities, the non-existence of Our Party in the smaller entity, and complete political exclusion from all important topics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it shows that for the leadership of Our Party, the state extends from Baščaršija to Marindvor."
"Given that Our Party has betrayed the fundamental principles and postulates for which I faithfully served it and brought votes, given that dissenting opinions are not allowed, and that uniformity of thought is imposed, I am leaving this and such Our Party. As a young man, it is not easy for me. However, they left me no choice. I will inform the public in a timely manner about further political moves," Lemezan concluded.
