Gas reductions up to 50%, and BH-Gas has not provided an alternative

- For all natural gas customers whose natural gas supplies are limited, Gazprom has limited the gas consumption. Bosnia and Herzegovina is limited to 600,000 Sm3 (standard cubic meter) per day. This practically means that if we have a need for 1.2 million Sm3, the supply reduction is 50%, and if we have a need for 660,000, the reduction is 10%. So, it is not a reduction expressed in an absolute percentage amount, but a limited order for gas, i.e., consumption of 600,000 Sm3 per day - Bečarević explains.

He also states that since extremely cold weather set in on October 22nd, the demand for gas consumption has increased, especially in the Canton of Sarajevo.

- This demand exceeds the approved quantities of 600,000 Sm3. Sarajevogas had to reduce gas supplies, and they announced this yesterday. Why BH-Gas persistently hides this information is unclear to me. At the same time, another problem will now arise, and that is the use of fuel oil in the Canton of Sarajevo. This requires significant financial resources and will logically reduce payments for already consumed natural gas. This situation is unsustainable in the long run, considering the debts BH-Gas has towards Gazprom - warns Bečarević. 

Why the Management of BH-Gas did not take any action to secure an alternative for this situation is a question for them and the owner, said Bečarević.

- Everyone was aware of such a possible development of the situation and did nothing to prevent it. What is further concerning is the dissemination of untruths and misleading the public, and the situation can only get worse. I do not expect a normalization of supplies before the resolution of the dispute between Ukraine and Russia regarding the resumption of supplies to Kyiv, and filling the storage facilities has nothing or almost nothing to do with this situation - believes Bečarević.

Otherwise, KJKP Toplane confirmed for NAP yesterday that the gas supply has been reduced, and whether this will ultimately mean that an alternative to gas will need to be found for 53,000 Toplane users will be seen in the coming days.
